Kensuke | Ceramics

My name is Kensuke. I was born and raised in Tokyo, have lived in Singapore and in the US. Well, clay is my best friend and I think we are pretty close.

My dear grandmother gave me the opportunity to get in touch with pottery. All of the pottery in her home was made by her own hands, and you can feel her spirit and warmth in everything. After her death, pottery, which had been a hobby of mine, brought me to the United States. Learning in a place with different traditions and culture than Japan made me realize that there is no need to get stuck in formality and adhere to stereotypes.

I aim to create works that neutralize, reconcile, and cooperate with each other, with my own works serving as a boundary line or a wall between various objects. I do not believe it is necessary to adhere to tradition or stereotypes, and I strive to create my work as I see fit.

Josh | Jewelry

My name is Josh, through a passion of designing and making jewlery I started potsnsilver. If you want to hear more about our story please go check out the about us page.

I don't think I can compare with the creators I have and hope to have on potsnsilver. Those who know me understand that I have limited experience in traditional artistic mediums, but despite this I have found my own unorthodox approach.

Rather than sketching, when I have an idea I go straight into carving a basic mold in wax. Then spending hours adding layers and playing with angles and curvature designing through look and feel. I try on the ring after every face or corner is shaved off slowly changing form and adding complexity.

Due to a more analytical approach my rings take a clean geometric form with a playful minimalist style. Choosing a stone involves visiting my local stone dealer and picking out multiple samples, testing their placement on the ring and visual aesthetic until I find what I like.

I design through trial and error, repeating the above process numerous times until I find something that I want to wear myself.
